Gris Alves, Ceremonialist
Thanatologist, Compassionate Inquiry Practitioner, Embodied Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, Trauma Informed 500YTT and Psychedelic Assisted Therapist.

Gris Alves is a musician and facilitator of psychedelic journeys and spiritual retreats devoted to guiding others through sacred thresholds of healing and remembrance while practicing and cultivating inner-self compassion. She supports intentional preparation and deep integration, holding space for expanded states of consciousness with reverence, safety, and trauma-informed care.
She is a Mindfulness Teacher and Compassionate Inquiry® Practitioner, which is a somatic psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr. Gabor Mate that uncovers the root of trauma, addiction and illness by exploring unconscious, suppressed emotions and bodily sensations.
It uses curiosity and compassion to help individuals move beyond self-judgement, understand their ”story beneath the story,” and reconnect with their authentic, undamaged inner self.
Her work in integration is woven with earth-based ceremonial traditions—including Temazcal (Sweat Lodge)—sound meditation and music and song as medicine, creating containers in ancestral wisdom, nervous system healing, somatic awareness and spiritual awakening.
Having worked for over 30 years helping others in recovery from addiction, Gris has worked in the trauma understanding, education and healing field both in the criminal justice system as a mitigation specialist as well as with the Prison Yoga Project. She is certified in the TAPS (psychedelic-assisted therapy training) through the Newman Institute of Psychotraumatology in Mexico City. Gris has also trained and works with the Alexandre Tannous Method, an integrative approach to healing and transformation that blends sound therapy, neuroscience and spiritual awareness to help regulate the nervous system and support deep healing.
A thanatologist, Gris honors death as a profound teacher, offering grief circles and ceremonies, conscious dying consultations and end-of-life psychedelic journeys and accompaniment.
